Add a splash of Spring to your kitchen design
The kitchen is the heart of any home. It’s a room where you will probably spend a considerable amount of time, so ensuring that it is practical is essential. Practical doesn’t, however, mean that it must be boring, and this is especially important to consider when it comes to choosing a colour scheme. You want a kitchen that you can really enjoy being in; one that feels warm and inviting. A monochrome colour scheme is incredibly popular with those looking at styles for a new kitchen, mainly as it’s easy to clean, match items to and looks very stylish. However there are plenty of fantastic colours out there to choose from, so don't feel that you need to stick with a more traditional colour.
Bringing colour into the kitchen
A spring colour palette can offer you the perfect way to add a genuinely fresh new look to your kitchen design. These colours can be a great way to lift those winter blues and add a really inviting touch to your home. As with any colour, it is sometimes better to add it in smaller quantities in order to alter the look of a room without overpowering it, but if you’re after a big change, then there are kitchen designs available in almost any colour you can think of.
A good compromise if you prefer to stick to a more conventional colour scheme is to choose a neutral tone which you can then enhance with hints of spring colours. For example, whitewashed walls with fresh sky-blue cabinets can work well. If you are not afraid of a slightly bolder colour scheme then why not pair a classic monochrome kitchen design with vibrant paintwork on your units, perhaps a primrose purple or a mind green which would really add a dynamic and very fresh look to your kitchen. Spring shades also work well with chrome accessories such as cabinet furniture and appliances so bear this in mind when considering the design of your kitchen.
Florals
From blinds to cushion covers, floral fabrics can also be a brilliant way to add a burst of spring to your kitchen. Be bold in your choice of fabric, and don't shy away from bright patterns. Consider the colours that you have used elsewhere. Little touches of colour can really make a dramatic difference to a room and flowers can really lift the mood of a room.
In addition to this, why not consider bringing a little of the outside into your kitchen? Whether it’s a herb tray on the windowsill or a bright floral centrepiece on the kitchen island, this can be an inexpensive way to brighten the look of any kitchen. If you’re not the most green-fingered, or just don’t fancy the maintenance, then there are plenty of artificial plants and flowers on the market that will certainly pass for live plants – as long as you remember to dust them that is!
Whether you’re ready to go all in with kitchen colour, or want to start small with a few bright accessories to lift the mood of the room, there’s a lot to be said for bringing a little bit of spring into your kitchen.
